Advanced ultrasound diagnostics

Advanced ultrasound diagnostics with high definition two- or three-dimensional (2D/3D) transvaginal ultrasound examination is an extremely important tool in fertility and assisted reproduction. It allows the precise configuration of the womb and ovaries and diagnose other conditions that could interfere with fertility: endometrial polyps fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine malformations, ovarian cysts.

Endometrial polyps

Endometrial polyps are a benign outgrowth of the uterine lining and could be easily evaluated by 2D/3D ultrasound or hysterosonography. If persisting or large they could be easily removed by a hysteroscopic intervention before an embryo transfer cycle takes place.

Uterine malformations

Congenital uterine malformations are less common, but they can have a huge impact on the chances of embryo implantation and especially on the risk of a pregnancy loss. Because some of them could be corrected surgically it is very important to precisely diagnose evaluate potential uterine malformations.

Endometriosis, adenomyosis

Endometriosis and adenomyosis is a common cause of female infertility and is an underdiagnosed condition that could cause debilitating symptoms and negatively affect the outcome of fertility treatment. A thorough 2D/3D evaluation by a skilled operator could help to evaluate the extension of the condition and monitor its progression.

2D/3D ultrasound also allows precise monitoring of the natural cycle, ovarian stimulation during IVF treatment or frozen embryo replacement cycles. During ovarian stimulation ultrasound scanning is repeated every 2-3 days to check the number and size of growing ovarian follicles is precisely monitored and the best time for the egg collection is decided based on the findings. During a fresh or frozen embryo transfer cycle the endometrial lining is evaluated thoroughly to achieve the best chance of embryo implantation.
